The Art of the Blend – A Global Journey Through Red Blends
Taught by: Lezlee, Certified Sommelier & Academy du Rhône Graduate
Blending is both an ancient art and a modern adventure. In this dynamic and thought-provoking class, we’ll trace the origins of red blends from their noble beginnings in France and the Rhône Valley—and follow their journey across the globe as winemakers put their own spin on the concept.
From the old-world traditions rooted in terroir to the new-world expressions shaped by climate, innovation, and bold experimentation, we’ll explore what makes a blend work—and what makes it sing. You'll taste one white and three reds, each selected to show off a different approach to blending, whether it’s climate-driven, soil-focused, or a pure expression of a winemaker’s flair.
Guiding us on this adventure is Lezlee, whose deep training at the Academy du Rhône and certification as a sommelier make her the perfect person to unpack the nuances and history of blending. Come ready to travel the wine world and rethink everything you thought you knew about red blends.
